Ubuntu 13.04 on a Acer Aspire One 725.

Google Earth runs with the open source radeon module, but slow and jerkey. I
get the same results as above with the AMD fglrx driver.

As of two days ago, after some updates that had included some libraries with
"GL" in them, I get different behavior. GE now pops up a window saying the
graphics card is not supported. If I choose OK, it then crashes the same way
and generates the attached log file (crashlog-51c45831.txt). Starting it from
the command line, it crashes, but now suggests that it be run with
"LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose". GE then runs if I click OK in the unsupported card
pop-up, but only a very bare earth that looks like a wire frame of the
continents and no other layers. The stars in that background are little
squares. This is all with the AMD fglrx driver. The output at the terminal is...

More updates for Ubuntu 13.04 just came out that included some more mesaGL
library updates. Now I'm back to the signal 11 crash again. (I needed to
reinstall the AMD driver to get a desktop again, too).

I' using Ubuntu 13.10 and had the very same problem. I found that if i cd'ed to
'.config' in my home directory and typed on the command line of a term
'googleearth',
googleearth worked fine. The problem turned out to be a error in the command
entry in
a googleearth launcher on my desktop. I found a '//' (double slash) in the
command entry. After I remover the extra '/' googleearth worked fine. All
launchers work now.
Right click on the desktop launcher and open properties to see the launcher
command line.

Same problem here with Kubuntu 13.10 with a similar error message:

ignored.
