KML Interactive Sampler "Download" button doesn't work #983

The "Download" button on the "KML Interactive Sampler" is non-functional.
http://kml-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/interactive/index.html

The download button is greyed out/disabled and you cannot click it.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load http://kml-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/interactive/index.html
2. Click 'Extruded' under Points examples or any other example
3. Try to click 'Download' button to download the KML into Google Earth.

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
 Expect 'Download' button to launch Google Earth with the KML 

Which plugin version are you using?
 7.1.2.2041

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?
 Chome (latest), FireFox 28, IE 9 on Windows 7

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.
Appears to be related to the error also found in the driving simulator example 
(see issue #958)
