Hardware master mute proposal #57

What soundcard to you have (make, model, chip)?
Stlab 7.1 - 8768 hardware rev. 68 (the card with the header for optional
panel for digital I/O)

What version of the driver are you using? On what operating system? What
version of the operationg system are you using (32 or 64 bit)?
1.2.4 Windows XP SP2

I've noticed that if I switch off pcmdac, the sound completely gets mute,
and the DAC volume slider does not do anything for this card, Dogber do you
have any information about any kind of card like this? Because if it is
usual with the 8768 chip (not like in 8738) that switching off pcmdac makes
the output mute, this can be used as the still missing master mute...

thanks for the hint - I've been tempted to implement this myself, actually, but
I am still unsure whether this
works across the line, from the oldest 8738 chip to the newest 8768 incarnation.

Well for my 8738 card, mentioned in issue55/56 it's not working
I only have these 2 cmedia cards(8738,8768) but I may try this somewhere
where's an
onboard cmedia 8738, and I'll post what I've found

Hi Dogber!

Could you release an experimental build with this function that master mute is
added in the place of "Enable PCM DAC" ?
It seems that on my 8768 card master mute could be working this way, and I
could share my experiences with you about using master mute that way.
Thank you
