For anyone interested in this, I don't think this repo is actively maintained but my fork has italic versions (as well as other improvements), with a more limited charset than the current Comic Shanns.

If interested in an italic version with an expanded charset, I'd recommend opening an issue on this fork, which is more actively maintained. I may eventually open a PR to that repo myself that adds italics, but don't currently have the time to do so.
