What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. configure --prefix=/some/custom/dir
2. make install
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Step 2 should install all files to prefix /some/custom/dir.
Instead, some vim files are installed into /etc/vim.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest hg tip
Please provide any additional information below.
This is unfortunate when e.g. installing to a user-specific stow directory.
