Important Updates in the SharkGo Project: iOS 17 Compatibility and Transition to .NET 6.0

Hello everyone,

I would like to share some significant updates regarding the SharkGo project:

  1. Transition to .NET 6.0:

    • Starting from future versions, such as 2.0.0.3, SharkGo will definitely use .NET 6.0. We have made this substantial change in the underlying platform due to complications in the code and differences in memory handling between versions. Important clarification: If you download SharkGo 2.0.0.2 today, you will be downloading a version in .NET 6.0. This transition represents a significant and meaningful change in the underlying technology.

  2. Official Download Page:

    • If you wish to download the official SharkGo executable, we recommend doing so from the official download page. Here, you'll find stable versions recommended for general use.

  3. Beta Versions in this Repository:

    • In this repository, we will only be adding beta versions. These beta versions are designed exclusively for precompiling the code before its official release and are intended solely for internal testing. Their use for end-users is not recommended.

  4. iOS 17 Compatibility:

    • We are aware that the SharkGo project is currently not compatible with iOS 17 due to changes implemented by Apple in this latest version. It will require extensive review and numerous changes, which I am currently working on in a private repository. I am focused on providing support for iOS 17 versions, and once achieved, support for older versions will be integrated.

  5. Participation in the Project:

    • We warmly invite users to become part of the SharkGo project and contribute through pull requests, implementations, etc. Remember that this is an open-source project. Your contribution is valuable and can help make SharkGo even better.

I am awaiting a stable version of iOS 17 to conduct proper testing and avoid relying on betas on my primary device (currently on iOS 16). I also have a secondary device on iOS 15.4.1.

Finally, I want to clarify that SharkGo version 2.0.0.2 represents a significant update, as it marks the transition to .NET 6.0, a substantial improvement compared to the previous versions in .NET 4.x. We kept this version to avoid forcing users who already have 2.0.0.2 to download a new version solely for this minor yet significant change that paves the way for future improvements.
