This project has piqued my interest, but it seems the last commit was made on October 10th, 2022. Is this project still alive or dead?

No, I just had to pause the work for a while, but I've recently begun working on it again. (See branch v0.1.2 for progress). Also, I'll be opening up contributions soon!
