This is a great idea, Kelli, and one I was just talking to others about. So I have been thinking about this, and do want to add that option. While I don't do this, it should not be that difficult to use the compiled TMB files and an input file to estimate values. With that said, using the Shiny tool makes this MUCH easier, and will do all of the things you talk about.
Have you thought about parameterizing the von Bertalanffy in terms of L0 in addition to t0? For some reason, the legacy code that I inherited with PacFIN.Utilities used a parameterization of L0 rather than t0. Also, is there an easy way to call the code present here without engaging with the shiny app? I am thinking of trying to estimate growth outside of the stock assessment for survey and fishery data and a combined data set for each stock.
