When linking to another markdown file, open preview but not the file #482

Context: I use markdown for multiple to-do lists. I switched to this extension so that I can click the checkboxes to deactivate. The to-do lists link to each other, and when I click on them with the vscode default previewer, it opens the new preview without opening the raw .md file too.

Problem: With this extension, it opens the .md file and I have to switch back to the preview.

Expectation: Would be nice to at least have the option to not open the .md file. (behaviour could be toggled in extension settings)

I have not developed vscode extensions before, but I am willing to contribute this feature myself if approved and pointed in the right direction.
