I use a softer and lower contrast dark theme in vscode as I find it significantly easier to read.

The issue I have with this extension is that it takes that control from me, even after digging around in the js files for a while I was not able to unlock the colors from the harsh black-on-white, which will be a problem when I'm working on documents in the evening where I usually switch to a darker color theme than I already have.

The fact that there's no option for "use the color theme you want to" is a huge downside for an otherwise brilliant extension.

I was able to change this: look for the setting markdown-preview-enhanced.previewTheme It seems that, even if you don't have the regular 'Markdown Preview Enhanced' installed, some of its settings are still exposed and work
