Ensure auto updater works #48

The auto updater has been transformed to JavaFX. In the meantime, several fixes went into the auto update process that need to be identified and merged.

Can be tested as follows:

Provide a same-same 3.1 version
make auto-update available for restricted set of IP addresses
Check if auto-update would work for future versions
