Broadcasting audio using latest Google Chrome (version 23) on a mac has poor audio quality #1357

Google just updated Chrome to release 23 and we immediately noticed that when a
user is broadcasting audio from their Mac, that user's audio will sound robotic
to others. The test setup is

  Chrome 23.0.1271.64 (mac)
  Flash version: 11.5.31.2
  Mac OS 10.8.2 (32-bit)

We're pretty sure its a bug in Chrome + Flash. We tested Chrome 22 on a mac
and broadcasting audio sounded fine. Upgraded to Chrome 23, and the
broadcasted audio sounds robotic.

What does work:
On Windows, Chrome 23 works great -- a user's broadcasted audio is clear. On
Mac, Safari and Firefox on Mac is fine as well.

Workaround:
If (a) you are on a Mac and (b) need to broadcast audio in a BigBlueButton
session, we recommend using FireFox or Safari browser, not Google Chrome.

The broadcasting audio problem seems limited to Chrome running on Mac. Others
are reporting similar issues as well with shaky audio

We're digging further on this ... hopefully Google will release an update
shortly.

Following the thread on the Chromium Bug Tracker, it looks like the reported
bug has been merged into this issue

   http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=157613

Not surprisingly, many others are encountering this issue. For the moment,
recommend that Mac OS X users use FireFox or Safari with BigBlueButton until
Google releases Chrome 24.

Looks like they have the fix in the next build of Chrome (Chrome 24)

Marked as WontFix -- nothing to do at our end as this was a Flash bug in google
Chrome.
