It looks like the search terms that fail are keywords.
It's been like this for a year or more.
This is now moot as we're no longer on trac.
It appears that the ticket system will fail if you search for bug reports using certain words.
Some of the words that cause the search function to blow up are first, test, error, search, reset, and password
Some of the error messages were:

There was an internal error in Trac. It is recommended that you notify your local Trac administrator with the information needed to reproduce the issue.
To that end, you could a ticket.
