What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. sudo -i /usr/local/bin/pulledpork_update.sh

What is the expected output? 
Rules downloaded and updated.

What do you see instead?
Error 500 when fetching 
http://rules.emergingthreats.net/open/snort-2.9.0/emerging.rules.tar.gz.md5 at 
/usr/local/bin/pulledpork.pl line 399

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v0.5.0 on Xubuntu (Security Onion v20110614)

Please provide any additional information below.
Connecting via proxy, have the following environment settings in place:
export http_proxy=http://server:port
export https_proxy=https://server:port
export ftp_proxy=http://server:port

I am able to download the file manually.

I'll need to see the -vv output, also the latest version "0.6.1" has a number 
of fixes to allow for proper proxy support.  This item has likely been fixed in 
0.6.1 so I am closing this issue.  If you continue to experience this after 
upgrading to 0.6.1 please feel free to reopen / comment on this issue.

I'm also encountering this using 0.6.1 on opensuse 11.4 with no proxy.
