There does indeed seem to be a bug where saving and then loading on lv8 causes the key to not be on the guard's person, which is interesting. I also checked and this behavior isn't present on vanilla MoTS.
The rancor one is probably intentional so that you don't save while in the Rancor's hands, but they didn't add any COG stuff to prevent only saving, unless you're marked dead. SITH_AF_DISABLED disables Load+Save+Restart in MoTS for whatever reason. Could be tweaked to allow loads and restarts though, maybe?

I'm not sure if these are actually issues or not. The first is a possible issue, but I couldn't replicate it afterwards when progressing from the previous level, whilst the second may be intended behaviour and therefore would more be an enhancement.
So, firstly, when I loaded into the level (which was a save from 0.7.8, though I'm on 0.7.9 at present), there was no key on the guards back to be Force Pulled, so I couldn't escape. Reloaded the save, still the same. However, when I went back to my save just before the end of level 7 and then finished that to get to level 8, the key was there.
The second issue is the Rancor in the level. When it kills you and you get the animation of it eating you, to save time I went to the menu to load my save, but the load option isn't present at that time and you are forced to watch the full animation before getting the prompt to press fire to reload the latest save. The load option appears later on, though. I'm guessing this is intentional because of the nature of this death having an animation, but it can get annoying if it kills you multiple times, like it did with me before I noticed the lightsaber at the back of the room. :P
