Can this work with Elegoo Neptune 4 ? #5

Hello,

I nearly sold my palette 3 pro, because now all my printers are under klipper.

I want to use my mosaic with my new Neptune 4 Max (under custom Elegoo klipper)

Do you think it can work ?

I don't really understand where I have to plug the Mosaic in the printer to make it work Or how to construct this bridge, can you provide some pictures please ? I really want to do it

Thanks a lot

Hi, thank you for reaching out. In theory if using a network bridge it should be achievable if the Neptune exposes moonraker on the network. You would need a single serial converter. Or if you have a pi zero 2w laying around, use it with the usb serial gadget. That way you don't even need to connect to the Neptune, just both devices need to be on the same Network.

There might be a way to run the bridge on the Neptune, but with the custom klipper setups that manufacturers have now, nothing is certain (got some surprises with the K1). So I now advise against it expect if using a fully fledged klipper on a classical rpi4 installation.

I'm currently a bit short on time, but if you feel like it is something doable for you, I can prepare a guide for the remote bridge. But as said you will need at least a PC/laptop running Linux or a spare rpi3 ( or higher) or a pi zero 2 w.

I never played with serial, network bridg etc :p I any case, there was a custom klipper on github for the Neptune 4 to make it work on the Neptune board with a clean klipper.

But yes the neptune use moonraker on the network but the rest of your sentence i did not understand it at all :p this one "You would need a single serial converter. Or if you have a pi zero 2w laying around, use it with the usb serial gadget. That way you don't even need to connect to the Neptune, just both devices need to be on the same Network."

The Neptune 4 can be controlled in SSH (it's how I installed a cam with timelaps klipper.

In the worst case, I have some rpi3b and 2 rpi4 in stock :p (but no, no Linux around :p )

here you can see the neptune 4 motherboard with all his inputs and pins https://r6e.github.io/neptune_4/hardware.html
