gnome-mplayer cannot handle commas in subtitle file path

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open a movie in a path that contains a comma, for example "/home/user/show 
series 1, 2, 3/file.avi" [in bash quoting "show series\ 1\,\ 2\,\ 3"]
2. drag & drop a subtitle file in the same directory
3. go to edit->preferences and press close

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: movie "restarts" [blinks] and subtitles appear
Actual: (number of commas)*2 message boxes, each stating
"Failed to open PATH_PART" 2 times.
For example
Failed to open /home/user/show series 1
Failed to open /home/user/show series 1
Failed to open  2 [notice the extra space]
Failed to open  2
Failed to open  3/subs.srt
Failed to open  3/subs.srt

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Fedora 14, gnome-mplayer 1.0.4

Please provide any additional information below.
I don't remember since when, but long time ago subtitles simply do not show 
unless I go to the preferences box and close that box AFTER loading subtitles. 
I don't know whether it's a mplayer issue or video driver issue because I don't 
remember after what change this started to happen. It does not depend on video 
driver used. Maybe the bug is only in reopening subs when closing the 
preferences box [when presumably the mplayer process restarts -> movie blinks], 
maybe the subs would work when drag-dropped in the first place, but I can't 
test that.

I'm ok with this - just renamed the path. Thought I'll let you know. Maybe 
other special characters have tihs problem, did not test.

I'm wondering if this is an mplayer problem rather than a gnome-mplayer issue. 
You might be able to work around this by not dragging and dropping the subtitle 
in, but rather using the Edit->Set Subtitle option.

I'll have to test this out.

Maybe it's old? Also crashes on one corrupted mp3 I have - interrupted by 
signal 11 [segfault].

It works with comma in file name. Problem is with comma in path name.

Hello I'm sorry I have to reopen this. Just today I installed the most recent 
version of mplayer and the issue persists, with exactly the same bahavior.
