Support for Android 1.5 #8

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I downloaded the .apk package and ran it.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected it to install. Instead, I got error message on my phone
"Application not installed - AndDaaven could not be installed on this
phone."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Sprint Hero, Android 1.5, set under Settings to allow unsigned (not from
Android Market) applications.

Please provide any additional information below.

The reason it did not install is because AndDaaven currently targets Android
1.6.
Supporting 1.5 should be relatively easy, but I haven't yet had a test device.
Please try the attached APK and let me know if it installs.

Thanks for the quick response. This does not install, but for a different
reason. "No
application can be found to open this file." Looks like it is not associated
with the
installer application correctly. So I can't tell if your 1.5 support works.

The Hero is supposed get a 2.1 update soon, so this might not be the biggest
deal, but
shgoyach for your efforts!

It looks like Google code doesn't correctly set the MIME type when downloading
files
from issue threads. (In other words, the web server tell the browser that it
is a
BIN file instead of an APK file, despite the extension.) Can you try putting
it on
an SD card and then installing it via a file manager (e.g. ASTRO)?

You're right, it worked fine through astro. Thanks!

So it now installed cleanly and works? If so, I'll add it to the market and
then it
should be available to all Android 1.5 users (at least until the 2.1 updates
come out
- and they've been delayed a few times already).
