create a new file and give it the name LICENSE -- you will see that a license template pops up on the right side, click on that and see what licenses are listed.

Select the license which you think is most appropriate for your work. read about licenses here: https://choosealicense.com/

I decided to go with the GNU General Public License v3.0.
