BoPoMoFo IM - unaccessible ㄥ and ㄝ phonetics #674

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago

*What steps will reproduce the problem?*
1. Create zhuyin-libpinyin IM
2. Try to type the phonetics ㄥ and ㄝ (should be on , and / )

*What is the expected output? What do you see instead?*
I would expect the phonetics, rather I end up with "," when I want to type ㄝ
and "/" when I want to type ㄥ. After the input of , or /, the whole zhuyin
input system is blocked and I end up with a standard english layout.

*What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?*
4.2.7 on an up-to-date Archlinux installation.

*Please provide any additional information below.*
I'm using the zhuyin-libpinyin module to compose chinese characters. It works
very well expect for the ㄥ and ㄝ phonetics not being available to type.
Those are on the keyboard on the , and / keys and seem to trigger something
else (swith to english standard keyboard?). My keyboard is actually a german
one but I know where the phonetics should be, so when changeing the IM also the
layout is changed to standard ZhuYin compatible layout (I tried various
combinations of English, Taiwanese and Chinese layouts, same results).

Best regards and thanks for this great software :)
Georg

Ah, ok, first, each fcitx input has a default layout, in order to make things
work out of box and predictable (We could make everything default to system,
but that's not predictable since it's depends on current system configuration)

Almost every "Chinese" input method is binded to us layout by default, since
you're using de, you might have some trouble with this.

To change this, launch fcitx-config-gtk / kcm-fcitx, in the initial UI page,
select Zhuyin (Libpinyin), click the button at right bottom (looks like a
configure button), then you will be able to change the layout for one specific
input method in fcitx.

Thanks for the answer and sorry for posting in the bugtracker - I found the
forums a while after I already posted here.

The libpinyin input has by standard a us layout and after resetting the
configuration (delete ~/.config/fcitx) everything seems to work smoothly (the
last two phonetics are available). Just to clarify for others: ㄥ and ㄝ are
suffixes and can only be put in as such, not as characters on their own.

Best,
Georg
