What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load spatial data set with > 500,000 coordinates 
2. Create more than 6 maps
3. Out of memory!

There is a fix in the works in that the software does simplification on the 
fly. This
needs to be exposed to the user for the 0.9 release.
