“Our objective is to increase customer loyalty by 1 percent each year for the next five years.” This is a real goal from a real company and it's perfect. The properties of a good business goal are that they should be:

  1. Measurable

  2. Time bounded

  3. Customer oriented

Generally, as businesses we want to:

  1. Get more good customers

  2. Keep our better customers

  3. Maybe offload our worst customers

  4. Sell more to customers
