When could we get the webp decoders for mobiles? #50

It's good news that I get a no-bug webp encoder and decoder for Mac OS 10.5
today, which I reported its bug on Jan 09 2011.

I'm looking forward to getting the decoders for mobile phones, for I'm willing
to use webp instead of jpg to transfer image data from server to client.

I've downloaded source codes for unix and windows. But after taking a simple
look, I thought it seems not easy to transplant to mobile platforms such as
Android, windows mobile or Iphone for it used libjpeg.

Maybe it's very easy to build a decoder for mobiles, but I haven't found any
guide docs to do such things.

Could you please tell us whether you have such plan to publish decoders for
mobiles?
Or could you publish some document to guide us to transplant decoders to mobile
platforms?

We know the code (libwebp) builds on ARM, because it works in Chrome.
It'll also be included in a future Android browser.
Could you clarify what issues you're running into?

Simply saying,I want webp decoders(eg. .dll, .so, .jar) for most mobile
platforms, which could be used in the mobile client applications. NOT in
browser.

the usecase is quite interesting. the code has been made available on a number
of platforms and there's nothing platform-specific. why don't you start by
creating build files and build it for ARM on Android and let us know how your
experience was?

I'm a software of mobile platform, but I'm not familiar with the webp image
format and decoders.
I'd like to use webp instead of jpg, if you team could provide decoders for
mobile platforms.
And I think the mobile platforms are the best platform for webp images, which your team would plan to do something on. Maybe the decoders are the first thing your team would do.
