Numexpr fails most tests with python 2.4

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. python2.4 numexpr/tests/test_numexpr.py

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Almost all tests fail see attached output

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Numexpr version:   1.4.2
NumPy version:     1.5.0
Python version:    2.4.3 (#1, Nov 11 2010, 13:30:19) 
[GCC 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-48)]
Platform:          linux2-x86_64
AMD/Intel CPU?     True
VML available?     False
Detected cores:    2

Distribution is Centos 5

Python 2.4 is not longer supported.  Use older versions of numexpr (like 1.3.1) 
for this.
