Associates but won't find pins #394

Hi,
I am very new to this so go easy. I am trying to use reaver and enter the 
command as follows:  

reaver -i moninterface -b bssid -vv

And it came up with, Warning: Failed to associate with .......
So then I browsed around the issues and found a person trying, 

reaver -i mon0 -b XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX -c 11 -e network_name -vv -A

So that got me to it being associated but it doesn't find pins. I have waited 
about 15min with no luck. Might there be a problem because I am booting for a 
dvd?
