Will try to reproduce in a VM with Ubuntu GNOME later

Can't reproduce on Ubuntu GNOME 17.04 in Virtualbox.

Anyway, as noted in "The Definitive Guide To Theming GRUB 2" on page 73, try to add scrollbar = false to the boot_menu section of theme.txt
