Or use https://get-coursier.io/ if you're using scala it has a jvm manager - https://alexarchambault.github.io/posts/2020-09-21-cs-setup.html#managed-jvm-directory

Is it possible to update this branch to point at the new one?

I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean updating the README about the other repository? Or is it a feature in GitHub that I don't know about?

There is nobody maintaining this repo anymore. So the new developers can't make any updates here. It is the same problem with the brew installation https://github.com/Jabba-Team/jabba/issues/4.

perhaps @shyiko could add a note to the README and then archive this project? looks like he is still active on GitHub.

even though I know this project has moved, I still keep finding myself back here (mostly thanks to Google Search, but anyway).
