This study would comprise an analysis of how salaries for research software engineers (RSEs) compare with those of other researchers.
The study should include a range of predictor variables such as age, gender, educational qualification level, etc., in addition to the category of the researcher (namely, RSE vs. other researcher types).
Potential Objectives
Identify differentials in salaries and analyze variables associated with those differences.
Report results in both a technically detailed manner for the formal research literature and an infographics sheet for wider dissemination.
Targeted Impacts
The findings from this study can provide useful insights for research organization administrators and research funders to assess the reasonableness of different categories of researcher costs (salaries).
