Identify specific examples of successful recognition practices and policies for research software work. Document and publish the details of these examples, providing a valuable resource and blueprint for policymakers and academic institutions. This activity could include the following:
Compile case studies in which researchers have received substantial recognition for their software work.
Develop a publicly accessible repository of best practice case studies (at least five) for assessing and acknowledging research software contributions.
Actively share this resource with academic decision-makers through at least one workshop to encourage the integration of research software contribution recognition into institutional policies.
Objectives
Encourage greater recognition and reward of research software contributions in academia by providing concrete examples of good practices that others can learn from.
Disseminate case studies showing how software contributions have been effectively recognized and rewarded by research organizations.
Use these examples to advocate for the incorporation of software contributions in academic evaluation processes and to promote awareness among researchers, policymakers, and institutions about the significance of software expertise in contemporary research.
