select and select1 controls are broken in Safari #4

Using Safari 4, select and select1 controls, in their various guises, all suffer from differing levels of appearance problems. Also, possibly as a side-effect of these display issues, in many cases they do not work as expected, e.g. selecting items has no effect.

This issue also exists in Safari 3.2.2, so I'm updating the Summary field.
