Benchmark feature please! :) #18

This is not exactly an issue, but rather feature request :)

It would be great to have some built-in benchmark tool, allowing to quickly
compare speed differences between various hardware configurations and builds.

I realize that it should be executing PS2 code (bios, part of some game,
scene demo?), using all features of the emu.

Is something like this easy to do?

Isn't that the "FPS" display? After all, all benchmarks in games displays a
FPS@resolution with the option of AA and AF. So it's already there.

Well, we would needed a special "game" for that.
One that stresses all ps2 components and then gives out some kind of score.

Its not reasonable to include something like that in the emulator, sorry.

Well just need to find a very demanding game as rama said, and provide a
mini-dump+savestate.
Something that will run for like 5~10 secs should be ok.

I doubt you'll find what would be needed.
Ideally we'd have a software that lets us select from a set of operations and
then
runs them.

Performance is dictated by many aspects of the emulator, recompiled code,
recompiling
speed, housekeeping work, memory acess, function calls, etc etc :p
