P.E.Op.S SPU2. plugin produces crackling sound in FFXII (both threaded mode and non threaded mode) #20

1) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on the
Official PCSX2 build or an earlier version of PCSX2 playground?
(If so, please specify the latest pcsx2-playground or Official revision
that last worked.)

NO. The P.E.Op.S. always had sound crackling problems...

2) What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play Final Fantasy XII with the P.E.Op.S. SPU2
2.
3.

3) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected: Sound playing smooth and correctly, at least when the game is
running full speed

Actual output:
1. If threaded mode is disabled, the in game sounds are PERFECT, but the
FMVs pause every 5 seconds and produce crackling sound.
2. If threaded mode is enabled, the FMV sounds are PERFECT, but in game
sounds produce random crackling.

4) What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Pcsx2 pp185, Vista Ultimate X64

5) Please provide any additional information below.
I've tried changing the pcsx2 affinity, doesn't help. I have a Q6600 o/c'ed
to 3.15ghz and a HD4870, the game runs at full speed, but the sound is
still crackling.

Switching to Zero2SPU solves the crackling problem, but with much lower
quality sound due to lack of interpolation.

Peops SPU2 is incomplete and outdated, its missing timescaling as well.

would you recommend switching to zero2spu then? but it produces a very harsh
sound
compared to the peops with interpolation

Try SPU2Ghz.
And I'm closing this soon, its not really a bug report ;)

Not that I know of.
I'd rather improve on spu2ghz or zerospu2 myself :p

Anyway, closing this.
