We need data to compare with. The number of infected people along the weeks (for a given disease) may be enough to compare with number of "infected" (state) cells in the cellular automata at every step.

Check for instance: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm for flu evolution.

If instead we could have maps with distribution of a given desease along the weeks, this could be useful to compare with the distribution displayed by the CA.

But don't worry to much. Lets simply adapt the model to the data we have, so that we can have fitness value.

I found some data with the number of reported cases of a mosquito transmitted disease by state in US. Even thought it is yearly reported, we can use the geographical information of US to improve our fitness calculation.
