Request to remove Django from supported projects #102

Closed aaugustin closed 10 years ago

aaugustin commented 10 years ago

Hello,

I'm requesting that peer4commit and prime4commit stop sending unsolicited email to every contributor that gets a commit accepted into Django.

I'm a member of Django's core team and I've been mandated by the core team to make this request on behalf of the Django project.

GitHub issues aren't enabled for prime4commit, but since you're maintaining both projects, I assume it's fine to ask only once here.

Not only is this illegal in France, where you happen to live, but it's frankly infuriating to get tipped a fraction of a cent for hours of valuable work. If you wish to keep Django as a supported project, please make your services opt-in rather than opt-out.

I've sent the same request to tip4commit.

Thanks.

Hello,

I've disabled the projects: http://peer4commit.com/projects/127 http://prime4commit.com/projects/19 They won't distribute any more tips.

Note that the automatic tipping is an old behavior in peer4commit that was kept to insure continuity in service when we changed many things. It is now something that must be explicitly enabled by the person who creates the project.

In the new process the project creator distributes funds explicitly. So there's no automatic mailing on commit.

You're right sending unsolicited email is a problem. I'll discuss with our community to see how we can solve that.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply and for doing the right thing. I appreciate that.
