Please remove all sympy/ repositories #125

In particular, at least these two projects:

http://prime4commit.com/projects/156 http://prime4commit.com/projects/211

Thanks you.

P.S. In the first project, at least I am able to log in, but in the second project, I am now even able to log in to disable it, there are no buttons "Change project settings" and "Decide tips amount".

Thireus commented 9 years ago

Hi certik, are these projects dead? Is this the reason why they should be removed?

asmeurer commented 9 years ago

The projects are not dead. We don't want to receive donations from these sites, and we don't want the sites spamming our contributors.

certik commented 9 years ago

As @asmeurer said, both projects are very much alive, and peer4commit is spamming all our contributors. I disabled sympy/sympy, but as I reported, I can't disable sympy/csympy, which peer4commit added without our permission as well.

Please stop spamming us and please do not add any other sympy/ repository again.

Thireus commented 9 years ago

This is a big issue then! I think this is the first time someone is reporting that peer4commit is spamming contributors. Maybe it would be more appropriate to talk about this behavior instead. And I'm pretty sure you guys are not the only ones impacted by this problem, so it may help others if we can fix that.

Shall we raise an additional issue explaining this spamming problem?

asmeurer commented 9 years ago

Strictly speaking, it is prime4commit that is spamming people. However, the website for it says to open an issue here, and the issue tracker is disabled on sigmike/prime4commit. I don't know if peer4commit also emails people.

certik commented 9 years ago

@Thireus it is indeed a big problem. You can find tons of projects requesting to be removed because of the spam, e.g. https://github.com/sigmike/peer4commit/issues/124#issuecomment-73786211.

More projects requesting the same:

https://github.com/sigmike/peer4commit/issues/122 https://github.com/sigmike/peer4commit/issues/121 https://github.com/sigmike/peer4commit/issues/118 https://github.com/sigmike/peer4commit/issues/114

Thireus commented 9 years ago

@sigmike will certainly jump on this, we have to find an appropriate solution to avoid this spamming. Thank you for reporting this.

certik commented 9 years ago

No problem. The solution is to ask the project owners to explicitly allow the project to be added (and explain that each contributor will be emailed), perhaps you can send them one email. If they ignore the email, then the project will not be added.

Thireus commented 9 years ago

I totally agree with this.

sigmike commented 9 years ago

I've disabled the projects. Sorry about that. Switching to opt-in is planned but I couldn't find the time to work on it yet.

certik commented 9 years ago

@sigmike thank you!
