Solved, was some paranoiac settings in the privacyguard — seeing debug logs helped a bit :).
So, no issue after all, sorry for the noise.

Could you list off the steps you took to correct the issue? I could take that and put it in an article on the support website (http://support.whispersystems.org)

easy: just go to the Privacy Settings (Security -> Privacy Guard) and ensure the contact app actually CAN access contacts. Yes, that's nasty ;).
BTW, having some other issues on slimkat, but couldn't find time to investigate further. I still don't get the contact where I want -.-. Craps. Should maybe go back to CM on this device as well…

I'm unable to see my calendars entries on the tablet, though they were synced from my nexus4 running CM11.
In Flock on n7, I can see my two calendars (Default Calendar, Contact birthdays), but it seems the calendar app can't see them at all.
When I request a forced sync for the calendars, here are the logs:
Nothing really relevant unfortunately :(.
What's really weird is the "no calendar" in calendar app when I click on the flock account…
Any help would be great :).
