until I open the groupchat, the message preview looks like a string of numbers and letters

Bug description

Describe here the issue that you are experiencing.

Steps to reproduce

on desktop create a new group with no other members
in this new group I send mysrlf a bunch of animated webp files all as one message
if I look on Signal Android I see my new group but the message preview shows letters abd numbers rather than an image preview
if I open the chat and exit again I now see an image preview

Expected result: eother show an image preview or a placeholder, but not seemingly meaningless letter and numbers.
