Yep. I have this exact same issue. Today (2020.03.06) Signal invited me to update my current version of Signal Desktop, but when I accepted the invitation and clicked to update, I got the attached message from Signal in which "the problem" is not specified, so I do not know how to redress the Signal problem, nor can I open Signal in this condition/state. I do not know what version of Signal I had been using prior to this would-be update to Signal, but I think it was 1.32.0, which was updated just a few days ago. In any case, I am running macOS 10.14.6 on my iMac.
@Hoorah You should be able to fix that problem with a direct download from https://signal.org/download. You won't lose any data when reinstalling on top of an existing installation.
Scott:
Done, solved, thanks. It still makes me wonder why Signal didn’t upgrade cleanly when I first clicked “upgrade” — that’s a first time for me and Signal — but I can overlook that given that the problem is solved by way of the link you provided. Ultimately, my (temporary) inability to upgrade was Signal’s problem, not GitHub’s.
