Open phenix-factory opened 2 years ago

Bug Description

When saving a file on Windows 10, the box doesn't add the .jepg extension. Therefore Windows doesn't open it, you need to add the extension yourself.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Try to save an image someone sent you on Windows 10
  2. Issue is that the file doesn't have extension.

Actual Result:

Saved file is like a binary blob.

Expected Result:

File saved with the right extension.

We use information from the sender's device to determine how to name a given image. Can you tell us what device sent that to you and how? Was it iOS or Android? From the filesystem, copy/paste, or the share flow in another app?

phenix-factory commented 2 years ago

The image was sent from Android (Huawei mate 10 pro, Android 10) to the Windows 10 device (using Signal Desktop, ofc). The photos was taken using the camera app, not the Signal camera.

Tell me if you need something else :)

On the Android device, how exactly was the image sent? Shared from the Photos app, taken in-app, or pulled into the app from the Signal gallery view?

phenix-factory commented 2 years ago

Pulled into the app from the Signal gallery view.

@scottnonnenberg-signal I know this is probably low priority, but the bot activity make me worried that this might be lost to the void.

indutny-signal commented 2 years ago

@phenix-factory sorry about that. Added tags to keep the bot away.

@indutny-signal Thank you :)
