macOS Ventura: Update & restart never updates and never restarts #6614

Bug Description

On macOS, I keep getting “Update available: Click here to restart signal”. I click it, and nothing happens.

Just a few days ago I redownloaded the app off the website and replaced my current version with it. This behaviour remains.

I’m on an M1 on macOS Ventura 13.5.1

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Click the update & restart prompt

Actual Result:

Nothing updates nor restarts

Expected Result:

At least an update.

6.30.2 Apple Silicon

Operating System:

M1 macOS Ventura 13.5.1

Yup, we see a lot of attempts to update in your log, and it's not working!

Can you send the contents of this folder to me at scott@signal.org?

~/Library/Caches/org.whispersystems.signal-desktop.ShipIt

Seems latest system update and/or a restart per Scott's recommendation have resolved this for me, at least.
