Can't download files #6993

Overall summary

I received some files via signal, but i'm unable to download them.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a chat
  2. find the file
  3. click on download
  4. Select the destination folder
  5. Click on save

Expected result

The file is downloaded.

Actual result

Nothing happens, not even a confirmation message.

@stemy2 I'm sorry that's happening; can you share debug logs? Have you noticed any pattern in terms of which attachments are affected (e.g. images vs files), or is it all of them?

The logs It happens with any file type.

I tried downloading signal desktop for macos from the official site and the download keeps failing. I tried under windows (edge), macos (safari) and on ios (safari). But in all cases the download starts fast and stops at a certain point. After stopping the connection simply times out and the download fails. Retrying gives the same error.

@stemy2 Thanks -- this is likely a duplicate of https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/issues/6912; there is a workaround in that thread that may help in the short term.
