Built-In Update breaks Signal app on MacOS 15.0 (24A335) #7087

Overall summary

My Signal app on macOS Version 15.0 (24A335) (Name: Sequoia) keeps crashing after using the built-in update functionality.

It is only working after re-installing it from the Signal website.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download Signal app from Signal website
  2. Wait for a new update
  3. Use the update built-in functionality to update Signal
  4. Wait for the download to complete
  5. Enter administrative / root credentials to allow installation of the new update

Expected result

Signal launches after the update is completed and new version is installed

Actual result

Signal crashes and wants to send a report to Apple
