Same issue:
iPhone Xs Max
IOS 15.0
Signal 5.21.1
Issue:
If I receive message no longer receiving notification from signal app IOS 15.
Tried reload + switch off / on + register push notification Nothing helps.
Same issue.
Updated to 5.21.2 iOS 15 iPhone 12 Pro
still having the same issue
Updated: Also with iOS 15.1 the issue persists with same Signal version.
Original issue:
iPhone 12 Pro Max
IOS 15.0
Signal version: 5.21.2.4
Issue:
If I receive a message it does not send a notification unless the app is open, not even if iPhone is unlocked, only when accessing the app. It also does not come across as delivered from the recipient's POV.
Tried to reload + switch off / on + register push notification and a complete delete and redownload of the app.
Nothing helps and no notifications is coming through unless I open the app.
I had the same issue with iOS 15 but now it looks it works again (after update to iOS 15.0.1, signal 5.21.2.5 beta ).
Edit: No, sorry, still no change. It will be great if I will have opportunity to reinstall. But I don't want to lose all my messages. Why Signal still don't have support for exporting to file like on Android?
Same issue:
iPhone 12 & iPhone 13 Pro Max
iOS 15.0 and iOS 15.1
Signal 5.21.2.4
Issue:
Not receiving push notifications on my device. Deleted all linked accounts and reinstalled Signal on my iPhone. Issue seems to happen after the app has been closed for a few minutes. Tried reload + switch off / on + register push notification Nothing helps. Even upgrading the phone from iPhone 12 to the new 13 Pro Max didn’t solve the problem.
If helpful i can provide the Signal debug files via a private channel.

Thanks for your reply! I’m already on 5.21.2.4 and still had issues today. I will send you the debug logs
Now is suddenly begin to work again:
IOS 15.0 & updated to 15.0.1
Signal 5.21.1 then upgraded to 5.21.2.4 version change did not helped.
As of today it works again may be the messaging center/system caused the problem.
From my side the issue is closed. Thank you developers!
Everything updated as recommended, issue is still there. Sending logs Thanks for your reply
As of today I have noticed that I only get notifications from one of my signal contacts, the other ones only appear when I open the app.
Still on iPhone 13 Pro Max - 5.21.2.4
Same here, if the app is close, no notification
When i open the app, notifications are shown
Signal 5.21.2.4 / iOS 15.0.1
Now is suddenly not working again.
IOS 15.0.1
Signal 5.21.2.4
Really don't understand this , yesterday half day worked as usually.
No notifications at all under iOS 15. Signal 5.21.3.6
.
Are you guys sure that you have set the Settings>Notifications>Schedule summary is on? And set Settings>Notifications>Signal>Immediate delivery
Are you guys sure that you have set the Settings>Notifications>Schedule summary is on? And set Settings>Notifications>Signal>Immediate delivery
Notifications in iOS are configured correctly. I am getting push notifications from some of my signal contacts but some never show notifications. Don't see how iOS could be at fault here
Are you guys sure that you have set the Settings>Notifications>Schedule summary is on? And set Settings>Notifications>Signal>Immediate delivery
I don't event have Schedule summary on. Still no notifications
Are you guys sure that you have set the Settings>Notifications>Schedule summary is on? And set Settings>Notifications>Signal>Immediate delivery
Same here. Notifications enabled, batch disabled, no new notification unless the app is on and in the foreground and even then not consistently
Strangely for me they are now working. I will update if anything will change
@Uolsen
Interesting! Could you please tell us IOS version and Signal version -
Now it works: IPHONE Xs max Ios 15.0.1 Signal: 5.21.4.6
Thank you developers!
Now it’s working again
iPhone 12 Pro iOS 15.1 signal 5.21.4.6
Hereby fixed on 5.21.4.6 in iOS 15.0.1 running iPhone 12 Pro Max
Awesome job 🙌
I still have this issue.
iPhone 8, iOS 15.0.1 Signal 5.21.4.6
I'm also seeing this issue on an iPhone SE 1st Gen, iOS 15.0.2, Signal 5.21.4.6.
Every now and then I'll get a notification while the app is closed, but otherwise all notifications only show up once I open the app.
Just enabled debug logging, will submit debug logs in 24 hours.
Phone: iphone xr Ios: 15.1 (19B74) Signal: 5.23.0.38
Issue: After Updating to ios 15, the app stopped receiving Messages till opened. Went thru all Settings, renewed Push Notification Registration, Focus Mode off, No Battery Saving, No Message Batching, ... . Cant reinstall because theres no way to keep my messages.
Signal App on Ipad still works as intended.
Exact same problems for me.
iPhone 8 Plus iOS 15.0.2
All notifications are set up correctly. Signal simply doesn't come through most of the time. I have to open the app, then suddenly I have a bunch of messages waiting for me. About to scrap Signal for any important communications.
Here's my current debug log. The issue remains, still no notifications. :(

I've since watched the behavior and it seems to be the case that pushes are coming through a few hours later. How can one get some reaction to this?

Same issue since a couple of days. iOS 15.1 on iPhone XR, app version 5.25.0.13. Tried disabling/enabling notifications and restarted the phone, nothing helped.
Btw the changelog says "several improvements to notification reliability" for version 5.25.0 released last week. It worked fine for me up to that point.
I am seeing this as well over the last couple of days. No push notifications or a notification bubble on the app.
iPhone XR on iOS 15.1 and version 5.25.0.13

I'm experiencing the same issue. iPhone 11, iOS 15.1, signal version 5.26.0.53.
Here the messages had been sent to me about 10 minutes before the log was generated: https://debuglogs.org/c9f7dda045f3acde4992351a11c7daae9672baf428230be3ee4eb0c32b61fec3.zip
For this one the messages were sent about 15 minutes prior to generating the log: https://debuglogs.org/1e56ea5e7805c5349dbebee57e0143e329ad1b97731243dec068a215d0e5f401.zip
I think the notification issue is caused by Focus modes. However, I added specific contacts to the list of people I would allow notifications from and also added Signal to the list of apps to allow. It didn't seem to make a difference, as notifications never came through until I opened the app.
I noticed the same thing in another application, which made me think this might not be an isolated Signal issue. Turning off focus modes has fixed the problem, at least for now.
I'm not using focus modes, yet I still have the issue.
I don't think any other app has issues on my device.
Actually, it looks more and more apps are affected... so maybe this is just an iOS issue?
My iPad is working fine, weirdly enough.
Maybe I should reset the iPhone settings in an attempt to solve this...
I've been seeing this issue since updating to iOS 15. Happens in WhatsApp for me as well, so definitely seems like an iOS issue or some change in regard to background fetch and/or push notification.
For those following, I performed a full factory reset on my phone the other day for unrelated reasons, and I have noticed that I've been getting Signal notifications since then. Might be worth trying if a reset isn't super costly for you.
Latest time this happened to me. Messages arrived 9–10 minutes before I opened the app and generated these logs, but I did not receive any notification. When I opened the app, I got the banner notifications for the messages that had been sent.

Another instance of no notifications until the app is opened.

I tried resetting all iOS settings, unfortunately that did not help. A factory reset would be a bold move. I think I will wait for the next iOS update and live with the frustration until then.

Same as majority above - no push notifications unless Signal was used within 5-15min. “Re-register push notifications” button does not help.
In the end, tinkering with settings did not help, nor did it help to perform a settings reset on iOS. What helped was to reinstall Signal. This applied to Telegram and Whatsapp also, which also stopped notifying me. Since meanwhile most of my apps are affected, I think that a factory reset will be the only way to go as all apps will be reinstalled when restoring the backup. As this does not appear to be a Signal bug, I think this issue should be closed.
Same here. Still not working even I tried reinstalling Signal, Re-register for notification, add Signal to 'always on' list on my iphone, this is so annoying.
iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS: 15.1.1 Signal : 5.26.5.0
Is someone aleeady working on this?
I had this same issue pop up, also presumably since the IOS15 update but just noticed it today when a friend texted me from another app to see if I was still alive after failing to respond for several days. I really wanted to avoid having to delete the app as I did not want to lose my history. Just restarting the phone or force quitting Signal did not work but I was able to fix it. I have no idea if this entire procedure was needed but it's what I did and notifications started rolling in again:
From that point, notifications were working again for me.
My logic for trying these steps was maybe the config is only read at application start, so I figured I would make sure to start the app with each setting off then each setting on again to make sure any cached or temp files were overwritten with the settings I was selecting.
if the Signal app is closed, no notifications. When i open the app, notifications are shown. All settings correct for push notifications on both my phone and the app. I can’t reinstall the app or I will lose my conversations as we have no option to save them on IOS (this problem should also be fixed) Please help. iPhone XR Signal 5.26.7.2 / iOS 15.0.2
Same issue.
I have tried the suggested solutions from this thread and even reset all my settings on my phone, it persists.
iPhone XS iOS 15.2 Signal 5.26.8.0 Debug Log: https://debuglogs.org/b290d58d7a76ce63adf7f35d1e63af64ab64e91f45b939d7a21e1c7ec488f881.zip
EDIT: After being able to transfer my messages to another device (to keep them), I deleted and reinstalled the app and now I do receive notifications again.
Same issue ever since I upgraded to ios 15:
IOS 15.2 Signal 5.25.8.0 iPhone 6s
I have multiple friends who suffer from the same issue. But its not only Signal, they also have this issue in Theema and Telegram.
A friend just told me, that un- and re-installing Signal solved the problem for him.
Problem solved without knowing why.
I wonder if this has to do with the removal of a third-party application that was handling notifications for my connected bracelet? (huawei health)
IOS 15.2 5.26.8.0 iPhone 13 Pro Max
I'm having this issue since over 3 months now: Getting no push notifications at all or getting them heavily delayed. I see them instantly when I open the app on my iPhone though. Maybe it is worth to say that I'm using the Desktop App in addition to the iPhone App.
Currently I'm on iOS 15.2 using Signal 5.26.9.2 on my iPhone 8.
I'm wondering if anyone from the Signal Team is already actively looking into this issue or not?
It is really frustrating to use Signal like that and it would be very much appreciated if that can be fixed.
