Really tragic video call quality between two iphones #5560

Hi, do you have a feeling that Signal is starting to have very significantly bad video call quality of video calls? I've been noticing it for a while and it's just really probably the worst on the market right now. When I play a telegram video or FaceTime video in the same place at the same time, the quality is significant better. I videocall through the signal to the same person and it's really a tragedy. Don't you have a similar feeling? (I tested it between two iphones 12 Pro)

iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 15.4 and also latest Signal app 5.32 on both phones.

And please, go to hell with something "there is missing info. " I tried to do that a long time ago. But nobody was interested and it was closed... but the bug is still there and nobody cares. My old bugreport

Has anyone noticed the video quality getting much worse (it was already bad before) on iOS in the past few weeks? It used to be usable but it has gotten so blocky and pixelated it’s hardly usable anymore.

I have noticed the same recently, main branch or TestFlight version the video quality is awful. iPhone 13 Pro and latest version.

This has been going on for years. Unfortunately, this is not news. The iPhone 14 Pro does the same thing. What angers me the most is that nobody officially from Signal addresses these things. Instead they make up crap like "Stories" and stuff like that.

Could anyone experiencing this video quality issue do the following?

To share a debug log from Signal iOS, tap on your Signal profile, Settings, Help, Submit Debug Log, Copy Link.

Could anyone experiencing this video quality issue do the following?

  • Ensure Signal has been updated to v6.22 or later on both devices.
  • If the issue still persists after updating, provide both caller and recipient debug logs after ending the call.
