Note: Its not completely clear whether this change should be merged as-is, or if a different change (with similar goals) should happen. I'll leave the discussion up to the ticket until the matter is settled.

I think we should look for other changes like that, yes. And has you said in the issue https://github.com/signalapp/libsignal-protocol-c/issues/115, the major version will need to be changed.
