I use scoop (https://scoop.sh) on Windows, and it would be great to have support to it too.

I wouldn’t like Upt to manage language-specific packages like pip and gem. It sounds out of scope, however it seems to be pretty reasonable to support Homebrew on Linux and nixpkgs.

I believe – and I must emphasise “I believe” – Upt should be restricted to system packages.

@cacilhas, with an extension system (like what https://github.com/PackageKit/PackageKit has) https://github.com/sigoden/upt could manage both kids of packages – system or language-specific. Is that what is has now, or is that worth a feature request itself?

Upt only supports thepackage management tools for OS. Upt does not support specific programming language package management tools such as npm, gem, pip, etc.
