Can not Save Website #642

I need help. When I tried to save the website but it said Error I can not manage to save the file. So anyone please help me.

Hello What service do you use? Dropbox? Github? What is you browser please?

I am using Dropbox, and Version 60.0.3112.114 (Official Build) (64-bit). I am using a chromebook to do this, and right now I cant log in to dropbox because I accidentally logged out of my dropbox.

Ok I think I understand what is happening. It appears to be a bug in the file browser, it will be fixed soon.

In the meantime here is a workaround:

I could not login after I accidentally logged out. So when I tried to save with github I could not save it at all. And I can not redirect on dropbox "Click Here"

Another solution for you is to use the version I am currently working on: http://silex-editor.herokuapp.com/

It is a different file explorer

so, for github I think this is normal it is a special service, you have to have 2 levels of folders you can only put a file when it is in a folder in a folder

Why does Silex NOT have a local save option? I'm so frustrated I can't save to GitHub. It says it has to be in a folder, I created a folder and it still gives an error.

...so why on earth would it even give you the option to save it to GitHub????

Hello @dougp59, let me explain those choices :

  1. The browser, thus Silex, cannot access your local drive for security reasons
  2. Saving to GitHub gives you a versioning of your files (i.e. it also keep the older version of your files) and if you publish your website on it, it will automatically be deployed on GitHub Pages for free. Pretty sweet, right?
  3. As mention previously by @lexoyo in this issue, to publish on GitHub you have to create a folder (a.k.a. a repository) with a folder in it (that would be your git branch) and then your content.

Wow! Thanks for the help!

I am using OSX on a Macbook Pro. One last trivial question. Using Safari, I'm not able to change the txt color. I can highlight words, click the paint brush and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?
