CTL-Fn F keys not working #102

HI Terry,

On my Dell laptop, hitting F keys does things like adjust screen brightness and sound and what not. NO difference if I’m running SA 3.1.2.0 or not.

For CTL-Fn F keys, when setting them up in the Setup Function Keys box, the Test comes out quite distorted. However, when I exit the box and use, e.g. Ctl-Fn-F2, I do get what I expect, with good sound. It’s a little over 2 seconds between the end of the file playing and the program being able to do anything else.

Appreciate your work on this!

Mike

Terry's comments,

Mike is making the comment that there is a problem with the playback of the audio when he is setting up the Player Function keys.

Here is an example that I've been using as a test...

Run SA 3.1.2 and open a Wave file. Then with the Begin and End cursors at the far left and not used for testing, select the main menu item "Playback" then select "Player", then pressing the "Play" button in the bottom left corner of Player, the audio of the wave file will play back as expected.

However if the "Fn-Keys..." button at the right is selected and the "Function Keys Setup" screen is shown, and it is set to "Play" and "Entire File" then there is a issue with the audio when the "Run Test" button is pressed.

That is, the sound runs and halts, then runs a little more and halts, then runs some more and finally finishes the playback. This run and halt is making it difficult to setup the various options.

Through trail and error, Mike has found that if he selects a Ctrl+Fn key item in the list at the left and then then selects one of the eight "Play" options, then without doing a "Run Test", he selects the "OK" button and returns back to Player, then when playing back one of the 8 playback options the audio works correctly.

This seems worth fixing because a user would not know that the "Run Test" option does not work correctly.

Comment: When using the Playback/ Player... , note that Player is a "floating" type window and it can be moved to any location on the LCD screen. In a like manner, once Player is set, then pressing the Fn-Keys (Function Keys Setup) it is also a floating window that can be positioned anywhere on the screen however Player cannot be moved until Function Keys Setup is closed.

The short-cut key for Player is to press the Player icon in the Tool Bar.
