It would be good to get collaboration going with the ownCloud Chat app: https://github.com/owncloud/chat

@LEDfan @simeonackermann let’s build one great chat app instead of multiple half ones. If you work together on a proper chat app, it’s more likely to be good and it’s more fun as well. :)

Yeah, you are definitely right. At the moment i didnt had the time to have a deeper look to the chat app.

At first I need to do this and think about if it's going the way i imagine for such app...

I think one great Chat app is the best idea. I'll first tell something about owncloud/chat:

integration with ownCloud users

The app fetches all ownCloud contacts and its information. On startup of the app all contacts are displayed, with their online status.
group chats are possible
(some) emojis can be used
hyperlinks, pictures, youtube videos etc inline markup
in the near future we will implement WebRTC. This will result in voice/video chatting. Also on mobile.
The chat app is built as sort of framework. New Chat protocols can be hooked into the front- and back-end. In the future we will built in XMPP, so Facebook, Google, chat etc is supported. This is really awesome :)

I'll create an OpenShift instance with my Chat app, so you can test it. I'll do this tomorrow.

Every contribution to the Chat app is very welcome :) Just create a PR on the repo.

@simeonackermann the owncloud/chat app has had some great improvements and bug fixes. This Monday when oC 7.0.1 will be released, a beta can be downloaded from the app store. It would be really great if we could work one chat app :smile:

@LEDfan I know, you are right - sorry for my absence... Unfortunately I always have less time to work on any private project. I know the best for owncloud would be to have one great chat/conversation app - especially with the integration of XMPP, WebRTC and so on. I will have a look at your app and the code and try to imagine if i can contribute some things...

@simeonackermann would be really cool to have you on the ownCloud Chat app team as the User Conversations app has a quite nice simple design and works well! :)
