Rogue androids weapon drop #413

We have two main problems with androids and their weapon drops on our private server. Firstly, we would like to have an option to disable rouge droids dropping guns, as it lets you instantly obtain one of the more powerful weapons in the game. Seriously, mob-farms are easy even in vanilla, RF generators are a joke to craft, and crafty player can completely skipp all necessary craft and development. The whole idea of mobs (especially non-bosses) dropping better items than player can craft seems iffy to me, because of aforementioned farms. Secondly, don't know if you can fix this, but thaumcraft "Disarm" enchantment causes all androids hit to drop their guns, massively exaggerating the problem.

guns drops should simply be more rare, and ranged androids should have a chance to drop legendary ranged android parts. alternatively, you could design legendary androids as some sort of boss so you need to craft some item for them to show up (like the hologram projector from essentialcraft - you place the 'subspace transmitter' and soon after a drop ship with androids (1 of them legendary) will arrive)

Do weapons dropped by androids come with batteries installed? Cause if they dont they might as well be a "one-time-use" weapon.

In addition, it does not make a lot of sense from a realism perspective that you would not be able to retrieve a defeated opponents' weapon. It might not be in the best of shape, depending on how you killed them, but unless you reduced them and everything in their immediate vicinity to a red-hot pile of ash there should be no problem with retrieving it.

Realism is one thing, but breaking tech progression ever the knee is quite the other. Our problem isn't with drops per say. If android only spawned around MO structures (which are very rare, we only managed to find two cargo ships in 8k block radius from spawn, and there weren't any droids), that would be fine, but they are spawning in packs in the nether, and any player with diamonds on hand can go and farm them to oblivion. We are playing full-on gregtech custom modpack, and made MO ores to only spawn on the moon and mars. That means no player without HV tech could get required resourses to craft these guns. And yes, dropped guns have in-built energy capacity, and you can charge them various ways without weapon station avaliable. And finally, these weapons are cool but are very powerfull, only ones more powerfull in our pack are very end-game thaumcraft weapons (that come with warp as a balance), and draconic evolution, which again cannot be aquired without space-tech. Basicaly, we would like to have more config options.

I completely agree, I made a mobfarm once and got all kinds of weapons.

However, I'm not sure if they mobs are supposed to drop the android chestplates/armor things, but I think it's actually good that they do.

I just added the config options for that in 1.8.

I went in creative to the Eldritch dimension and spent a good 45 minutes cleaning out the mobs there in survival with a Fortune 3 sword, of which most are androids. I only got one weapon, and in the overworld androids aren't nearly as common. I did get a lot of the android parts.

Keep in mind, because I was in creative, I was using endgame equips from Rotarycraft, Chromaticcraft, Thaumcraft, and the 10-15 different Thaumcraft addons I had installed.

I did not test the "Disarm" enchantment. Can it go on any sword or just magical swords (eg. Thaumium and its descendants)?
